SELECTING MY PREFERENCES
WHICH GENDER WOULD BE BEST FOR ME?
Because of our matchmaking method, we will make sure any puppy we select for you will be a great match for your needs! If you have specific questions about genders, feel free to ask one of our friendly staff members during your pre-matching phone consultation! However, if you're looking for some basic info, check out the below!
There are a number of factors that can contribute to which gender of puppy would be best for you. Ask yourself a few questions:

Do I want a more laid back puppy or a more active one?
If you answered "active", we would likely suggest a female puppy. Often they need more mental stimulation than male dogs and in turn need more activity. If you answered "Laid Back", we would suggest you purchase a male puppy.

Am I a confident, experienced, and patient trainer?
If you answered "yes", we would suggest a male puppy for you as sometimes they take a bit longer to train than some of the females. Of course, you don't have to be a professional trainer to have a male puppy, but we do warn that sometimes they take a little longer to train. Females may be better for the less experienced as sometimes their drive to learn is a little higher.

Are there more males or females in your human family?
Often times male dogs bond better to women, while female dogs bond better to men. Of course, this is just a generalization, but it is something that we have seen happen often.

Are my other pets males or females?
Especially if you have other dogs, it's important to take into account their genders and their roles in your already established family. Bringing a new puppy into the family can upset your current dogs' balance so be careful to pick a puppy that will compliment your current dogs' personalities.
If you already have a female dog, we would suggest getting a male as having two females can sometimes cause issues, especially if they both have dominant personalities. If you already have a male dog, either gender should be alright for you. As males are generally more laid back, bringing either gender into the home is less of an issue.
However, again, be sure that you are not picking a dominant puppy if your male dog already has a dominant personality. We are here to help you decipher which personality will work for you!
WHAT ARE ALL THE DIFFERENT COAT COLORS & PATTERNS?

SOLID - If the dog's coat is all the same color, it is qualified as solid. Occasionally, a solid colored puppy will have a small white marking, generally on it's chest or toes. These markings are 'abstract' and do not disqualify the dog from being a solid color.

PARTI - If 30%+ of the dog's body is white, it is considered a parti color. Parti colors should not fade.

PHANTOM - Phantom refers to a dog's markings and phantom marking is similar to that of a rottweiler or doberman. Phantom colored goldendoodles, poodles, and bernedoodles generally have lighter colored markings on their eyebrows, chests, and legs. Phantom coloring can sometimes blend into the dog's coat and become less distinct as the dog grows. Phantom can be combined with parti, sable, or brindle coat colors.

SABLE - Sable is a mixture of grey, brown, and black colorings and can sometimes turn out looking brindle when the dog's coat is shaved down.

BRINDLE - It's generally easiest to tell if a dog is brindle when shaved down. It's coat will look almost tiger-striped, generally grey, black, and/or brown.

TRI-COLORED - A puppy is a tri if it is black with distinct white chest and brown eyebrow leg markings.

HOW CAN I KNOW IF I'LL HAVE AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO MY PUPPY?
While it's very difficult to tell with 100% certainty if you will have allergic reaction to your doodle, we will be sure to select a puppy for you that meets your specific allergy needs. Often, people are more allergic to the saliva in the dog's mouth than it's fur, which is generally deferred to as the culprit. To assist our future puppy parents in determining which puppy is right for them, upon request and for a fee of $25, we can send you an "allergy tee", or a tee shirt worn by one of the parent dogs of the litter you are considering purchasing a puppy from.
The dog will wear the shirt for a day, and get their scent, dander, fur, and saliva on that shirt. Then, it will be mailed to you and whichever family member has the most specific allergy needs may wear the shirt and see if they have a reaction to it. In turn, if the person reacts to the shirt, we will start looking for another litter. If they do not, we can likely move ahead with a puppy from the litter. However, note that allergies can be more severe with the puppy in real life, this is just a good gauge of the severity of the allergic reaction. I'M WORRIED ABOUT SHEDDING. WHAT WOULD BE BEST FOR ME?
A big reason many people purchase goldendoodles is to have an amazing companion without all of the pesky hair everywhere. That is why we try test all of our dogs to try to ensure the least amount of shedding possible. Most websites list an F1B is the lowest shedding generation, and while an F1B is a very low-shedding generation, it is no more than other later generations. We often suggest multi-gens or F2BB generations for people who are concerned about shedding.
Curlier-coated dogs often shed less than wavy ones as wavy coated dogs (like an F1) often have more golden retriever bred into them. However, this does not mean that you cannot have a wavy coated goldendoodle that doesn't shed. If you are looking for a wavy coated doodle that still is low-shedding, we have them! Please CONTACT US and we can help you find the best litter for your needs! Again, remember that we will not match you ta puppy that won't work for your allergy needs.

YES! We absolutely LOVE it when our puppies go on to be service or therapy dogs! We have many puppies working in dentists' offices, funeral homes, kids' schools, mental health & rehab facilities, and so many more. As these dogs have very special jobs to do, we would love to be a part of helping you pair your specific needs with a certain litter.
Often, we suggest puppies from our stud ARMANI or SAINT for therapy dogs. He has a wonderfully calm, perceptive personality that generally pairs well with the needs of people searching for a therapy or service animal. THE ADOPTION PROCESS

STEPS TO ADOPTION
It's easy to get started adopting a JennaLee Designer Doodle Puppy!
STEP #1 - FILL OUT AN APPLICATION!
Let us know your specific needs, a timeframe, and the details on what type of puppy you're looking for!
STEP #2 - GET APPROVED!
We'll take a look over your application, and send you a prompt email back or give you a call! We will help suggest the right breed, size, coat and gender for you!
STEP #3 - PUT DOWN A DEPOSIT!
Our deposits are $500, and will hold your space in our deposit list! If you're opting for a FULLY TRAINED puppy, your deposit will be $1500.00
STEP #4 - MONTHLY UPDATES!
At the beginning of every month, we will email you and let you know what's going on at JLDD as far as females in heat, pregnant, or that have puppies! We also update our website regularly with the most current info on our upcoming litters and their progress.
**Special Note** -- remember to omit our email address from our email's spam filter!
STEP #5 - PUPPIES ARE BORN!
Within the first week of a litter being born, we will email our deposit list and and let you know that we have a brand new litter! This email will include pertinent details of the litter including colors and genders. You will have 3 days from the time the email is sent to let us know if you would like to join the litter list. When you commit, we do ask that you be open to ANY puppy in the litter or confirm your preferences ASAP. We will use your preferences to help match you with the right puppy for you, but ultimately will match you with the puppy whose personality we believe best matches with that of you and your family. When we get all of the responses from those on the deposit list, we will go down the list and select the people who will actually get a puppy from the litter based on their preferences and deposit order during week 7 and notify you via email with a personal video.
STEP #6 - WEEKLY PUPDATES!
Each weekend you can check into our litter development page (linked in the litter announcement email) for new photos and a week by week summary. They're also chock full of good information for your new life as a puppy owner - not to mention loads of cute photos of the puppies from the past week!
STEP #7 - PAYMENTS DUE!
When the puppies are 7 weeks old, payments are due in full! With your $500 original deposit the cost of your puppy is $4000. If you are picking up, or if we are delivering in the state of SC there is a 9% sales tax applied to your final invoice. If you are doing our 4 week or 8 week preschool program the full cost of that program is included in your invoice. If you are a 12 week fully trained doodle family your first training installment is due with your invoice, and the second half of that cost is invoiced before your first family day, or 1/2 way through the program.
STEP #8 - MATCHES ARE REVEALED!
When the puppies are 7 weeks old, we will officially reveal the matches for each family! We have spent the last 7 weeks watching the puppies and comparing them to your adoption applications to ensure that we get the right match for each and every family! Again, we do use your preferences for your puppy to help match you up and generally have very good luck using the knowledge we have of the puppies' personalities with each family's personal preferences.
STEP #9 - TIME TO GO HOME!
When your puppy is 8 weeks old, they can come home and officially join your family! You will be sent a checklist of items to ensure you have completed prior to your puppy departing our facility. Now - the real fun begins!
WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS AND A LITTER I'M INTERESTED IN DOESN'T TAKE OR DOES NOT SURVIVE?
There are some times where a female does not get pregnant, or there are complications with the pregnancy that cause the puppies not to survive. Of course we do everything we can to prevent these situations from happening, but sometimes there is nothing we can do and nature takes its course. In these situations, depositors will can wait for the next available litter.
HOW CAN I GUARANTEE THAT I'LL GET A SPECIFIC COLOR, GENER, OR COAT?
Based on genetics and coat and color coding, we do our best to predict the coloring outcome of each litter. However, this is not an exact science and can easily surprise us. Genders are also a total surprise and we cannot predict the genders that the puppies will be, which is a part of the reason that we announce the litters after they are born. If your application notates that you are non-negotiable on a specific color or gender, we will do our best to match you with that, but the wait time will likely be much longer or you than others who are more open. If you have a specific coat texture need due to allergy needs, we will accommodate this. However, the more specific you are about a color or gender, the longer your wait time will likely be.
TRAINING PACKAGES - WHAT'S THE STORY?
Getting a new puppy can be so much fun, but the training can sometimes be intimidating! For this reason, we offer a 4-WEEK PUPPY PRESCHOOL as well as a 8-WEEK INDIVIDUALIZED PUPPY PRESCHOOL. The details of both of these programs can be found on their individual pages. You will pay the regular $250 deposit and go on the deposit list with everyone else getting a puppy from the litter. The price of each program will be added on to the cost of your puppy. Puppies enrolled in the four-week program will go home at 12 weeks of age, and puppies in the eight-week program can be picked up at 14 weeks of age.
If you would like a FULLY TRAINED DESIGNER DOODLE, you will pay a higher deposit amount of $1000 and be placed on an elite list of people who are interested in a puppy picked just for them. You will also fill out an individualized questionnaire that will help us pair you with your perfect puppy. You will not go on the regular list with everyone else getting puppies from a particular litter, but we will use one of our breeder's picks to select a puppy from a litter just for you. Then, it will go through a 12 week training program to prepare the puppy for it's new life with you!

HEALTH TESTING
All of our dogs go through rigorous health testing before they are 'officially' added to our breeding program. Below, you can find what we test each breed for.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY PUPPY'S HEALTH GUARANTEE?
We want all of our clients to be as confident in their puppy's health as we are! Your puppy is protected for two years against any genetic diseases. A full copy of our health guarantee can be found HERE.
HOW OFTEN ARE YOUR FEMALES BRED?
The health of our mama dogs is one of the top priorities in our program. This is why we do our best to ensure that each individual female is cared for to her individual needs. Just as humans do, some of our girls really enjoy being moms, while others prefer the independent, baby-free life! Some girls bounce back really quickly and want to become moms again soon, while others' bodies take longer to get used to being a mom. We watch each of our mother dogs closely as they whelp and raise their puppies to ensure that the puppies are being cared for correctly by their mothers, and if one of them seems to be lagging or not enjoying motherhood as much as she used to, she will be retired more quickly, or we will skip a cycle or two with her. We also work closely with our reproductive veterinarians who help us stay current on the best practices. Currently, they are recommending that we breed our girls every cycle, and then retire them early.
PUPPY HEALTH CARE
I JUST BROUGHT MY PUPPY HOME AND HE/SHE IS...

CRYING IN THEIR CRATE
First, try taking the puppy outside to see if it needs to potty. If the puppy just starts to play and does not do it's business within 5 minutes, return it to it's crate. Unfortunately, your puppy needs to 'cry it out' in the crate. You may refer to the set of instructions in your puppy's go-home pack for a refresher on crate training tips & tricks. If you purchased a snuggle puppy from us, this should also help. Be sure your puppy's litter scented blanket is also in it's kennel with him. DO NOT take the puppy out and let it sleep with you. This means the puppy has won.

NOT WANTING TO EAT - Don't panic. There have been a lot of changes happening in your puppy's life in the last few days. Just give it some time or spice up their kibble by drizzling some chicken or beef broth over it.

HAVING ACCIDENTS IN THE HOUSE - Unfortunately, this is just a part of being a puppy! Please refer to the guide in your puppy's go-home packet.
EAR INFECTIONS & ISSUES
Ear problems are very common in dogs with floppy ears or with excessive hair growth inside the ear canal as both these things trap in moisture and allow the over growth of bacteria and yeast which if not resolved early can cause severe ear infections. Prevention of such infections starts with keeping moisture out of ears by keeping ears plucked of hair, carefully placing cotton balls in ears during bath time, using an over the counter drying ear wash after water activities such as swimming. Signs of infection include foul odor, discharge and or swelling and redness.
Treatment for minor irritations may resolve with daily cleaning with a medicated over the counter ear wash once a day for 5-7 days BUT if the problem doesn't improve or worsens it is ALWAYS recommended you see your veterinarian as antibiotics and prescription ear cleaner and or ointment may be necessary. If you are unsure the severity of the situation always speak to your veterinarian.
HOT SPOTS & SKIN IRRITATIONS
Hot spots are a skin irritation caused by the dog licking, scratching or excessively chewing at a underlying irritation such as fleas, allergies, insect bites or poor grooming. Sometimes boredom and/or stress can cause a dog to lick, scratch or chew on certain spots without previous irritation causing a hot spot. The best way to deal with a hot spot is to keep the area clean, dry (mild soap and warm water will be fine) and most importantly keep the dog from licking/chewing or scratching as this can cause a secondary infection, the best way to achieve this may be to put a cone or E-collar on your pet. If you have been keeping the area clean and dry and the problem does not improve or worsens over a week then it is advised you contact a veterinarian as oral and or topical medications may be necessary.
ALLERGIES
Allergies are very common in dogs (especially lighter colors!) and can be caused from a number of things that are either environmental or food related. Common signs of allergies include hives, poor coat, hair loss, eye irritation, ear issues, rashes, coughing, sneezing or overall itchy-ness. It can be hard to pinpoint the cause as there may be many different ones. Environmental allergies can be year round or seasonal. Food allergies can be determined if you take the time to do a food trial using a limited ingredient food with a protein and carbohydrate your pet has never had before and this should be done exclusively for 8-12 weeks. Your veterinarian can give you a good place to start and more in depth instructions of doing a food trial. The best way to determine allergies is to have your veterinarian do allergy testing to determine the trigger(s) for your pet. Sometimes if the trigger is something you can't keep away from your pet medication may be necessary.
DIGESTIVE UPSET
Digestive problems can be caused by many things ranging from stress to diet. If you don't think your pet has gotten into anything dangerous such as household chemicals or poisons or ingested any solid objects such as rocks, plastic, clothing, pieces of toys etc. and they are experiencing vomiting and or soft stool, there are some things you can try at home for a few days to see if the issue resolves. For vomiting only offer small amounts of a bland food such as boiled boneless/skinless chicken breast and white rice and 12 hours later offer about ¼ of the amount you normally offer.
For soft stool you may try to add some canned pumpkin to their diet. It can be store bought; just make sure its plain pumpkin no added sugars. For more serious diarrhea you can try boiled boneless/skinless chicken breast and white rice with some plain non-fat yogurt (to help restore the good natural GI bacteria) only offer about ½ the normal amount you would feed each meal. You can try this for a few days. If there is no improvement or condition worsens within 24-48 hours or there is any blood in vomit or stool or your pet will not eat, contact your veterinarian immediately as prescription medications or other diagnostics may be needed. As always if you have any doubt in the health of your pet it is always best to contact your veterinarian for advise.

CAN I COME VISIT YOUR FACILITY?
While we would love to accommodate all the requests we have to come and visit our facility before committing to a puppy, there is no way to safely welcome the number of people requesting to visit our home, which also doubles as our breeding facility. However, we do want our potential clients to feel comfortable with both us as breeders and our facility. To accommodate requests to see our South Carolina doodle breeding facility before purchasing a puppy, we do monthly 'tours' of our home and the daily happenings here via our FACEBOOK PAGE. IS THERE A WAY I CAN MEET YOU & THE PARENT DOGS?
Especially if you haven't spent much time around doodles, we totally understand the need to meet one of them before committing to purchasing a puppy. It's a big commitment, and we want all of our clients to be thrilled with their new family member. We love to meet people and talk about the our dogs, so we host 'open houses' at locations throughout the cities where they are needed most. At each event, we will bring a number of our dogs for people to meet. We will post the times and locations online, and would love to meet you there! Our types of puppy litters include mini goldendoodles, medium goldendoodles, standard goldendoodles, standard bernedoodles, medium sheepadoodles and standard golden mountain doodles.
