For many families in the Chicago area, the simplest way to bring their puppy home is through private ground transport arranged from our location.

Your puppy travels alongside a trusted member of our team or a professional puppy transporter, with attentive care and supervision throughout the entire trip.

We do not use commercial shipping services or place puppies in cargo compartments. Instead, every trip is personally coordinated and carefully planned so your puppy can travel comfortably and arrive relaxed, safe, and ready to settle into their new home.

Some Chicago families prefer to visit us and pick up their puppy in person. This option allows you to spend time meeting your puppy, see where they’ve been raised, and get to know them a bit before heading home together.

Many families turn the trip into a short visit or weekend getaway before making the journey back to Illinois with their new companion.

Whether your puppy travels through private delivery to the Chicago area or you choose to pick them up yourself, our priority is always the same: making sure the transition from our home to yours is smooth, comfortable, and handled with great care.

HOW PEOPLE LIVING IN CHICAGO CAN GET ON OUR PUPPY WAITLIST!

• At JLDD, we follow a family-focused puppy placement approach designed to match each puppy with the home where they will thrive. Instead of letting families simply pick from a lineup, we carefully evaluate which puppy best fits each household. We use the details from your written application, your initial consultation call, and additional conversations after the litter is born to guide this process. By learning about your lifestyle, expectations, and experience level, we’re able to recommend the puppy whose personality will integrate most naturally into your family.

• Deposits secure your place in line and are non-refundable, but they are always eligible to be transferred to a future litter if the current one isn’t the right match for you. We also understand that life sometimes throws curveballs. If something unexpected affects your timing, we can place your deposit on a temporary hold while still preserving your original priority date.

• Individual puppies are not assigned in advance of matchmaking day. Although we begin observing and recording each puppy’s development as early as three days after birth, meaningful temperament traits usually don’t emerge until around six weeks of age. Waiting until those personalities begin to show allows us to make far more accurate and successful pairings between puppies and their future families.

• Families who participate in our 12-Week Fully Trained Designer Doodles Program are placed on a priority sub-list within our system. This means they may be considered for upcoming litters earlier than families with a traditional deposit. For those planning to invest in structured training from the start, this option can help shorten the wait.

• Regardless of program participation, however, our pairing process remains consistent — puppies are matched with their families at approximately seven weeks of age. Once matchmaking calls have been completed and invoices are issued, the final balance is due when the puppies reach seven weeks old. Payments may be made via cash, check, or direct bank transfer.

If you would like your puppy to remain with us a bit longer for early crate training and/or potty training, we offer several optional puppy training programs designed to give your new companion a great start. These programs introduce structure and routine before your puppy ever arrives at home.

You can explore the details in our Training Packages section. If you’re thinking about enrolling your puppy in one of these programs, please let us know before your puppy reaches six weeks of age so we can reserve a training spot.

In addition, every JLDD puppy goes home with a take-home starter bundle to help make the transition into their new family as smooth as possible. Your puppy will come with:

• A monogrammed comfort cloth carrying the scent of the litter

• Their initial vaccinations and deworming treatments

• One complimentary month of Trupanion pet insurance (must be activated within 24 hours)
